Live Fire Delayed Again by Massachusetts, PLEASE READ!!

This is the Most recent information we have from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the implementation of the new firearms laws.  Please read it carefully, we do not have any additional information to offer at this time.  Please check our web site for updates as they become available.

This is a link to a document from GOAL.ORG and a memo to licensing officers from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. GOAL DOCUMENT, MEMO to LICENSING OFFICERS

Key Points

  1. Massachusetts is NOT enforcing the Live Fire Requirement at the present time
  2. Students taking the class after April 1, 2026, and applying after April 1, 2026  before the Live Fire Requirement is defined, will be required to complete live fire before renewing their LTC, FID.
  3. Licensing officers will accept class certifications for classes taken on, or Before April 1, 2026.  You will be required to bring your training up to the new requirements, class and live fire, prior to renewing your firearms permit (LTC, or FID). WE DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON UPGRADE CLASS REQUIREMNTS FROM THE STATE AT THE PRESENT TIME< BUT WILL ADVISE WHEN WE DO.
  4. No Live fire class currently offered in the Commonwealth meets the new requirements because those requirements have not been defined.  We suggest you take the live fire class ONLY IF YOUR SPECIFIC TOWN REQUIRES IT.  Specifically, the Towns of Braintree, Weymouth, Quincy, Rockland, Sharon and Brookline REQUIRE LIVE FIRE TRAINING, but it will NOT count toward the new training requirement, unfortunately, because that requirement has not been defined by the state.
