About The Class

Our class meets the requirements set forth by law in Massachusetts to obtain a Massachusetts License to Carry, a MA FID Card. 

Ready to get your Massachusetts license to carry?

Do you want to get your Mass LTC, license to carry?  Our basic Firearms Safety Class fulfills the Massachusetts firearms safety classroom training requirement for your Massachusetts License to Carry (Mass LTC).  Our LTC course is 5-Star rated and it gives you the information you need to become a safe licensed gun owner in Massachusetts.   Our class is excellent for beginners and those with experience, alike.

After you take our basic firearms safety class you will receive your MA LTC training certificate. Our certified live fire training Class fulfills the live fire training requirement for the Commonwealth of MA and municipalities requiring live fire training.

Note: You MUST take our non-live fire basic firearms safety class in Rockland, MA BEFORE taking our live fire class.

** You will receive your certificate to apply for your Massachusetts LTC.  If you attend our semi-private safety class, you will qualify to attend a semi- private Live Fire Class for a $125 fee, in Holbrook  **

Live Fire class is available to students who have attended our class, on a limited basis, at an additional cost of $125 for the Live fire class.  Our Live fire training meets the requirement of the Commonwealth of MA and municipalities requiring live fire training.  All Live Fire training is conducted in Holbrook, MA during the week, starting at 9:00 am.  Live Fire Training runs approximately 90 minutes.  Please check our live fire schedule for details and current classes.

* Due to Moon Island live fire shooting qualification requirements, Brookline residents will require extra training at an additional cost.  Contact the Brookline Police Department Directly for more information.

South Shore Gun Training is fully licensed and insured.  All of our instructors are licensed, certified and insured.

Classroom Training…

The class fulfills the non-live fire training requirement for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is a discussion on basic firearms safety, assault weapons laws, storing/ carrying & transporting firearms legally, where you may and may not carry a firearm, safe storage, MA self-defense laws, routine traffic stops, purchasing a firearm in MA, laws in adjacent states, federal laws and more. Students learn about semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, single and double action mechanisms. You will learn the different types of firearm & ammunition malfunctions and how to deal with them. We do hands on loaded and unloading of firearms with inert (dummy) ammunition.  We discuss the licensing application and interview process in Massachusetts and review the application for your License to carry.

MA LTC Class room training is conducted in Rockland, MA and runs approximately 3.5 hours.  Training is conducted weekday evenings from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Check our schedule for our current classes.  Our classes are semi-private basis and the fee for Non-Live Fire LTC class is $150*.

Private Classes are available with prior arrangements for groups of 8-12 at our facility in Rockland, MA  Please contact us for information.
